What is the difference between Footfall and Visitor data?

Our footfall and visitor datasets are based on the same data but filter pedestrians in a different way. Visitors count people who stay in the same place for longer than 5 minutes, whereas our footfall data excludes those stays. Therefore footfall and visitors are complementary datasets: A supermarket that is mostly reached by car will have more visitors than footfall and a busy pedestrian street will have more footfall than visitors.

In short:

  • Visitors: Number of people staying in a place for longer than 5 mins
  • Footfall: Number of people walking through a place
